Heart Health: Exercise is Better with Friends

You might know that, regular exercise is great for your heart and is the best medicine which has the benefit of not just preventing heart disease but reversing it, as well. You might also know that, staying motivated to work out on a regular basis is a challenge for most of you.However, finding a good workout buddy can help you counteract this, amongst various other good reasons.

A new study published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association found that people who took group exercise classes reported less stress and more physical, emotional and mental health benefits than those who exercised alone or did not hit the gym at all.

Benefits of working out with other people.

Be it taking part in a group fitness class, working out with a personal trainer, playing sports or any kind of motivation assisted by your exercise partner, the benefits reaped would be a powerful combination of motivation, accountability, support, healthy competition and far beyond.

1. Motivation
When you work out by yourself, it’s easy to lose motivation. Your partners words of encouragement can push you farther than you think you could go

2. Accountability
It’s easy to bail out of a workout if you are on own. Having the accountability of a workout buddy always keeps you going.  This can help you stick to your goals.

3. Healthy competition
Human beings are naturally competitive!  Healthy competition can help to improve your performances though.

4. Fun.
Sticking with your routine workouts every day can get boring and monotonous.  Having a friend to talk with while working out can bring fun and make your time fly.

5. Variety
Your friend can share new exercises and ideas. This can keep your workouts fresh, as well as keep you motivated to try new moves.
